Traffic Accident Kills Father of PGA Player

The father of professional golfer was fatally injured Tuesday evening after his vehicle overturned in Amarillo, Texas.

About the Fatal Amarillo Accident

ABC News reports Charles Franklin “Butch” Palmer of Amarillo was involved in a fatal traffic accident on Tuesday night when his SUV rolled over. Charles Palmer was the 71-year-old father of professional golfer Ryan Palmer.

The accident occurred 2 miles north of Amarillo, said the Texas Department of Public Safety (TDPS).

Palmer was driving through State Loop 335 when his vehicle veered left off the highway. According to TDPS, Charles Palmer overcorrected his driving and lost control of his SUV. The SUV rolled several times.

Palmer was not wearing a seat belt, causing him to be expelled from the SUV. Palmer died at the scene.
