Trane and American Standard have recalled about 3,900 accessory heaters due to the systems overheating and creating a fire hazard.

About the Accessory Heater Recall

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), heaters installed with reverse polarity on circuit breakers can cause the unit to overheat which poses a fire hazard.

So far, Trane and American Standard have received 10 incidents of the heaters tripping circuit breakers. Heat damage has also been reported.

Consumers are encouraged to stop using the heaters and contact their local Trane and American Standard dealer to schedule a free inspection.
