A principal was killed instantly last week as she attempted to push children out of the way of an oncoming school bus.

About the Tragic Bus Accident

According to the Indy Star, Susan Jordan, the 69-year-old principal of Amy Beverland Elementary School, died after the bus struck her and two 10-year-old students around midday on January 27th.

The two students were rushed to the hospital in serious but stable condition. They were treated for non-life threatening injuries. None of the 25 students on the bus were injured.

The driver was not found to be inebriated and the bus had passed its latest inspection only five days prior.

The school was out of session for a day as staff and students mourned the loss of a brilliant educator.
