Tree Falls on Children at Day Camp
Details of the Day Camp Accident
On Tuesday, July 28, 2015, a large pine tree fell on top of eight children attending a day camp at Kidspace Children’s Museum in Pasadena, California.
FOX News reports six of the eight children were treated on the scene, but two were sent to the hospital in critical condition.
The children were doing arts and crafts under the tree while waiting for their parents to pick them up for the day. It is unknown what caused the tree to uproot and fall.
First Responders Conduct Search-and-Rescue
After arriving, Fire Department dispatch began using power tools to cut the tree apart as part of a search-and-rescue measure.
California is in the midst of a severe drought that has lasted several years, though experts are unclear if this is a factor in the incident.
The museum has since reopened.
