A Lancaster truck driver is facing criminal charges after authorities determined he was texting seconds before his tractor-trailer barreled into multiple vehicles along Interstate 81.

About the Fatal Trucking Accident

  • State police allege that Muniru Iddress, 30, was sending text messages moments before causing a four-vehicle crash that left George and Kathleen Weed dead.
  • According to the Sentinel, Iddress told police that he was traveling north on Interstate 81 in Silver Spring Township at a speed of roughly 55 mph before the collision.
  • Iddress truck slammed into the back of the Weeds’ Tahoe, which was stopped in traffic, sending it into the back of the vehicle ahead of it.
  • After obtaining a search warrant for Iddress’ cell phone records, police discovered four separate text messages were sent in the moments leading up to the accident.
  • Arraigned on Thursday, Iddress is now facing two counts of homicide by vehicle, two counts of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of reckless endangerment.
