Trucking Accident in San Antonio Injures Five

Five people were injured in San Antonio following a multiple vehicle crash which shut down both east and westbound lanes on Loop 410 near Somerset Road. 

About the San Antonio Crash

The San Antonio Express-News reports that the crash occurred around 3 pm Sunday.

Authorities report a red Ford pickup and a semi-truck were traveling westbound when the pickup tried to pass the 18-wheeler in the right lane. The pickup truck swerved to avoid a stalled Chevy Trailblazer, causing the semi to roll over in the median.

One adult was airlifted to the hospital. Two other adults, one minor and one child, between the age of 3- and 7-years-old, were also injured.

Authorities have not determined the cause of the accident.

  • 823 deaths were linked to intersections, 581 deaths were attributed to head-on collisions, and 1,974 deaths occurred in rural areas of the state.
  • An additional 237,941 people were injured in auto accidents in 2014 with 17,152 people sustaining incapacitating injuries.
  • On average, one crash occurred every 66 seconds in 2014.
