Details about the DUI Accident

The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that a bond of $500,000 was set on Monday for a man that was charged with DUI after an accident that left two children critically injured and another adult injured on Saturday morning in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

According to police, 27-year-old Ricker Pearson is facing three felony counts of aggravated DUI causing an accident with bodily harm. Pearson was also charged with misdemeanor counts of DUI and driving with a suspended license, and cited for running a red light and for driving without insurance.

The accident happened about 6:26 a.m. when the suspect was driving east on West Lake Street when he ran a red light at the busy intersection of North Hamlin Avenue and hit a vehicle and caused it to spin out of control and hit another vehicle.

Two young boys were ejected from the first vehicle and were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, according to police.

The suspect, as well as the woman driving the first vehicle were taken to Stroger Hospital where they were later stabilized. Two other people involved in the accident declined medical attention at the scene of the accident.
