Tina Robinson3 years ago

Authorities say two people were injured on Tuesday after a car became trapped underneath a tractor-trailer on I-81 in Va., according to a WHAG News report.

About the Tractor-Trailer Accident

Around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, a 1998 Lincoln Continental driven by Frederick Sullivan, 67 of N.C. and his wife was traveling on I-81 in Middletown, Va. near the westbound on-ramp for I-66. Sullivan says he confused the on-ramp with a third highway lane and was struck by a tractor-trailer when he attempted to correct his mistake.

The driver of the semi, Sarah Rater, 23, slowed to avoid striking the car but was unable to completely stop in time. The Sullivan’s vehicle became wedged underneath the truck and took emergency crews awhile to free the car. Both Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan were taken to Winchester Medical Center for minor injuries sustained in the accident.

Police say Sullivan will be charged with improper passing.
