Two people were killed in an accident that involved drunk driving in Hanover.

Details about the Hanover Drunk Driving Accident

WTV news is reporting that all of the occupants in a vehicle that collided with a tree in Hanover had been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana before the accident happened according to court documents. Four of the occupants of the vehicle were badly injured and two were killed in the accident.

One of the passengers of the vehicle told police that all of the people in the vehicle had been drinking and smoking marijuana at a pond where they had all gone swimming after the NASCAR races.

Two of the passengers in the vehicle, 17-year-old Dylan Ballard and 22-year-old Elliot Hinton, both from Mechanicsville, were killed at the scene of the accident that involved a four-door Dodge pickup truck leaving the road and slamming into a tree on Cold Harbor Road.

The vehicle was traveling about 10 miles per hour over the speed limit at the time of the accident.

Police report noticing a strong odor coming from the vehicle and found a large amount of beer cans inside the truck. Deputies obtained a smoking device, a bottle of Clear Eyes, air freshener, and the speedometer instrument panel to use in their investigation.

At this time, no charges have been filed, but the accident currently remains under investigation.
