WPTV News is reporting that two people were killed after a vehicle and a train collided in an early morning collision on Tuesday at the SE Dixie Highway and SE Seaward Street in Martin County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the accident happened at about 3:41 a.m. in Port Salerno. A 1995 Dodge Dakota drove around the crossing gates and into the path of the train at the time of the accident.

The driver of the truck, 51-year-old Michael Franklin, and a passenger in the truck, 40-year-old Daniel Wayne Faulk, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, all train crossings from Indian Street to Cove Road were blocked due to the initial investigation and cleanup but have since been reopened.
