Underage Drunk Driver Loses Life and Injures Others

A one-vehicle crash claimed the life of 15-year-old Angel Blancas on Sunday morning in Garland, Texas.

Details of the Fatal Garland Accident

According to WFAA, local authorities suspect that alcohol and speeding were the culprits of the crash that claimed the life of Blancas and caused injuries to two others.

Authorities were called to the scene around 5:30 a.m. They reported Blancas was driving a white sedan, lost control of the vehicle, and went off road. The car slammed into a fire hydrant and came to rest after crashing into a utility pole.

One of the two injured occupants was identified as a Jackson Middle School student. The other was not enrolled with the Garland Independent School District. The two were taken to Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. One is in stable condition and the other sustained serious injuries.

After he was taken to Plano Medical Center, Blancas was pronounced dead. Blancas was to start his freshman year at Garland High School on Monday, but due to underage drinking and driving, his time was cut short.

  • An additional 232,599 people were injured with 16,807 reporting serious injuries.
  • TxDOT estimates a reportable crash occurred every 71 seconds.
