Update: Bus Driver Charged in Houston Hit-and-Run

Houston school bus driver who fled the scene of a fatal bicycle accident has been charged.

Driver Arrested Wednesday Afternoon

According to the Houston Chronicle, Houston police announced Thursday that they had obtained the driver responsible for the fatal accident Wednesday afternoon.

Police arrested 54-year-old bus driver Phyllis Ann Booker in connection with a fatal accident that claimed the life of Bobby Brooks, 45. Booker, a driver for First Student Bus Company, was turning left on a green light when she struck Brooks.

Booker fled the scene of the accident, and Brooks’ body was found later by a passerby. Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene.

Booker has been charged with a felony count of failure to stop and render aid. The charge carries up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

    • One person was injured every 2 minutes and 16 seconds.
    • A reportable crash occurred every 71 seconds.
