UPS Truck Hits Amish Buggy, Kills 2

On July 11, a UPS truck drifted out of the lane and collided with an Amish buggy in Loganville, PA, killing two people and injuring several others.

UPS Truck and Amish Buggy Collide  

According to the Associated Press, authorities are still working to determine what caused the UPS truck to drift.

What is known is 55-year-old UPS driver Sherry Croak drifted into the buggy, hitting the horse shaft on the left side. The shaft impaled the UPS truck. The truck continued on for 100 feet until being stopped by a collision with a walnut tree.

Two occupants of the buggy, 36-year-old Rachel Beiler and an 8-year-old boy, were pronounced on the scene in the accident.

A 37-year-old man was taken to Geisinger Medical Center in critical condition, and a 13-year-old boy, 11-year-old girl, and a 14-year-old girl were all seriously injured. Croak was reported to only have minor injuries.

No charges have been filed at this time.
