Ventlab Recalls Resuscitator Bags

Jasmine Reynolds2 years ago

Ventlab LLC of Grand Rapids, Michigan has issued a nationwide, voluntary recall for the Ventlab Resuscitator Bags due to a malfunction with the duckbill valve.

About the Resuscitation Bag Recall

According to Medscape Medical News, the duckbill valves may stick, resulting in the resuscitation bags delivering no air to the patients.  The problem is caused by an incomplete curing during the manufacturing process.

The affected resuscitation bags may not function properly and could result in a delay of oxygenation and life-threatening health consequences such as hypoxia and hypoventilation.

There have been 31 reports of a delay of oxygenation along with 1 report of an injury due to a faulty resuscitation bag.  Consumers with the recalled bags should stop using them immediately and contact Ventlab LLC for instructions on returning the product.

Description of Recalled Resuscitation Bags

The recalled bags were distributed nationwide and can be identified by the part number, description, and lot number on the case labels, as well as a small white label on the individual packaging bag.
