Victim Identified in Vidor Pedestrian Accident

Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was killed in hit-and-run Tuesday morning as 46-year-old Carlton Newman of Gilmer, Texas.

About the Fatal Vidor Hit-and-Run

According to 12 News, Newman was killed before 5 am Tuesday when he was struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Concord Street and the Interstate 10 service road in Vidor. The incident was reported by a nearby resident who found Newman’s body in a ditch.

Authorities have recovered pieces from a vehicle which they believe struck Newman and are now searching for the driver. The driver faces possible charges of manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid.

Vidor Police Chief Dave Shows believes Newman was traveling to or from his job when the fatal incident occurred.
