Volkswagen, Audi Vehicles Recalled for Faulty Fuel Pump

Kelsey Tucker2 years ago

Car Connection reports that Volkswagen is recalling multiple Volkswagen and Audi vehicles equipped with faulty fuel pumps made by German supplier, Bosch.

About the Fuel Pump Recall

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there is a contamination and debris within the Bosch fuel pumps. There was another recall from Nissan and BMW for the same issue earlier this month.

The recall has reached about 6,204 Volkswagen and Audi vehicles registered in the United States and potentially more abroad.

Volkswagen has not heard of any accidents or injuries associated with this problem and has not told NHTSA when they will be mailing out recall notices to customers.

When customers do receive those recall notices, they will be able to take their vehicle into a Volkswagen or Audi retailer for an inspection and replacement of the fuel pump at no extra cost.

Models Affected by the Fuel Pump Recall

The current recall covers 2015 year-models of the following vehicles:

  • Volkswagen Golf
  • Volkswagen GTI
  • Audi A3

Customers are encouraged to contact Volkswagen at 800-893-5298 or Audi at 800-253-2834 if any questions arise. Customers can also contact NHTSA directly at 888-327-4236 and ask about safety campaign #15V229000.
