Details about the Fatal Hang Gliding Accident

WFLA News is reporting that, even though the weather was clear and calm, something went terribly wrong during a hang gliding activity that was taking place in Groveland, Florida.

On person was killed as a result of the accident at the Small Sheets Airfield at about 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board have indicated that a tow rope on the hang glider broke when the glider was in flight, which caused the hang glider to crash.

When emergency first responders arrived at the scene of the accident, they found the victim suffering from a heart attack. The victim was pronounced dead a short time after the accident. The accident that happened over the weekend is the second accident to happen in the area in the last three or four years.
