Justin Chavez3 years ago

Police have confirmed that a woman was hit and killed by a tour bus while crossing the street Saturday, January 10 in South Los Angeles.

Details about the Accident

“She had the right of way and the bus came and just took her out, ran her over.” – onlooker Johnathon Pineda as published by ABC

  • The accident occurred at Slauson Avenue and Figueroa Street at around 8:30am on January 10.
  • Investigators say the private tour bus hit the pedestrian, now identified as 56-year-old Ena Villalobos, as she was on her way to the local clinic. The investigators say the driver apparently did not see the woman at the crosswalk.
  • The bus driver waited for authorities, cooperated with the police, and had the proper license to drive the bus. There were no other passengers on the bus, and the woman was pronounced dead on the scene.
  • In a separate accident, two L.A. City firefighters responding to the accident were injured when they were involved in a three-car collision. Both firefighters and another driver involved were taken to the hospital with no serious injuries.
  • The bus driver has not been cited or arrested, and the investigation is still ongoing.
