Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Route 30 in Vernon

A 58-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a car along Route 30 in Vernon, Connecticut last Wednesday.

About the Vernon Car Accident 

According to NBC Connecticut, the accident happened at the intersection of Hyde Avenue and East Street around 7 a.m.

The woman, identified as Kathleen Jasak, was crossing the street when the collision occurred. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges have been filed, but the incident is still under investigation. Witnesses are urged to contact the Vernon Police Department at 860-872-9126.

  • From 2011 to 2012, there was a 3.7% increase in the number of auto accidents involving large trucks
  • Males have accounted for 70% of motor vehicle accidents for several years. 
  • In 2012, 14.13% of motor vehicle fatalities involved pedestrians. 
  • Motor vehicle fatalities related to intersections increased by 5.4% from 2011 to 2012.
