Woman Seriously Injured at Red Sox Game
A day at a Red Sox baseball game in Fenway Park ended in tragedy for one woman when she was struck by a shattered baseball bat as she sat, watching the game from the stands.
Accident Resuts in Life-Threatening Injuries
According to Reuters, the victim, Tonya Carpenter, was sitting in the second row of the Red Sox’s home game, when a broken bat flew into the crown and impacted her cranium.
A team of emergency paramedics rushed to the scene right away and wheeled her from the stands as blood streamed down her face.
Reports say that her injuries were life-threatening, and that she remains in serious conditions at Boston Hospital.
Victim’s Family Remains Hopeful
Her family has been thankful throughout the tragedy and sent the following statement to news reporters: “On behalf of our family, we want to thank everyone for the continued prayers and well wishes.”
