Woman, Two Children, Killed in 18-Wheeler Accident

Police are investigating the cause of a fatal accident that killed a woman and her two children.

Details about the Fatal Accident

KIII News is reporting that troopers from the Department of Public Safety are currently investigating a fatal accident that took the life of a 21-year-old woman and her two young children. The accident reportedly happened at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon along Highway 285, which is about five miles west of Riviera.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the accident involved a Chevy Malibu and an 18-wheeler. Investigators working the accident have said that, for some reason, the driver of the vehicle left her lane, went off the road, and then over-corrected, hitting the 18-wheeler head-on.

A passenger in the vehicle, 21-year-old Kris Gonzalez, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. A 3-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy were also killed in the accident. The 22-year-old driver of the car was taken to a local hospital where she is listed in critical condition. A 1-year-old boy was also taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured in the accident.
