Details about the Fatal Accident in Florida

WFTV News is reporting that a 5-year-old girl and a 25-year-old woman were both killed in an accident that happened on the Florida Turnpike near the Osceola-Orange County line. Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol have indicated that one of them witnessed the accident from a distance and saw some of the children trapped inside the vehicle.

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol report that the accident happened in the northbound lanes between Osceola Parkway and State Road 417, and involved a tractor-trailer that was hauling cars and a van that was carrying six people inside.

5-year-old Esibel Varona, of Miami, and 25-year-old Rebekah Pollard were both killed in the accident. Troopers say that a Chevy SUV, being driven by Nicole Varona, was heading north on the Turnpike, with the driver of the truck behind her.

A tire malfunction in the SUV caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle that slammed into a guardrail, causing the two victims to be ejected from the vehicle. Neither of the people who were killed in the accident were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. Several others were injured and taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.
