Women Dies In Accident After Committing Hit-And-Run

Houston woman is dead after being involved in two accidents last week.

About The Two Incidents

KPRC reprort that, early Sunday, September 21st, a woman was involved in a hit-and-run. The woman was driving a gray dodge Durango which struck a gray Chevrolet Impala.

She fled the scene and drove southbound on Spur 5 immediately after colliding with the Impala. The Impala followed the woman until they reached Old Spanish Trail.

According to the Houston Police Department, the woman then drove into an embankment, went airborne and hit utility pole support wires before finally landing in an open field.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene which occurred around 3:45 AM.

Houston P.D. is still investigating the incident and the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is currently verifying the victim’s identity.

The following information was provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT):

  • 3,377 traffic related deaths were recorded in 2013 – marking a 1.05 percent decline from the 3,413 deaths recorded in 2012.
  • Another 232,041 people were injured in motor vehicle accidents.
  • Based on available crash data, TxDOT estimates:
    • One person was killed in an auto accident in Texas every 2 hours and 36 minutes.
    • One person was injured every 2 minutes and 16 seconds.
    • A reportable crash occurred every 71 seconds.
