Worker Killed in Texarkana Construction Accident

Officials are investigating an incident in which a construction worker was fatally injured at a Texarkana jobsite.

Details of the Texarkana Construction Accident

According to The Baytown Sun, 61-year-old Jose Andrade was killed Tuesday afternoon when he was involved in a backhoe accident in Texarkana.

Reports indicated Andrade became trapped between the backhoe attachment and the tractor the equipment was attached to.

Andrade was pronounced dead at the scene.

  • The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recorded 4,405 on the job deaths in 2013. This averages to 85 deaths a week or more than 12 deaths every day.
  • 3,929 of those deaths occurred in private industry, and 796 occurred at construction sites.

    • Falls
    • Struck by object
    • Electrocutions
    • Caught-in/between
