Worker Killed in Warwick Construction Accident
About the Fatal Construction Accident
According to the Providence Journal, the 45-year-old man was working on a state roadway project when he was struck by a piece of construction equipment.
The accident occurred just before 2.a.m.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Rhode Island Department of Transportation are both conducting investigations into the incident.
The man’s name is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
Construction Accident Statistics
The following information was provided by the OSHA:
- 4,405 workers were killed on the job in 2013. This averages to 85 deaths a week or more than 12 deaths every day.
- 3,959 of the deaths were recorded in the private industry and 796 occurred in construction.
