Young Basketball Player Impaled by Floorboard
A middle school basketball player is recovering from injuries after she was impaled by a floor board during a game.
Details about the Bizarre Gym Accident
FOX 8 News is Cleveland is reporting that a 14-year-old basketball player had to be hospitalized after a freak accident that happened in the gym during a game. The girl fell down, slid across the floor, and was impaled by a splintered floorboard.
The gym was filled with confusion when one of the officials at the game asked the girl if she was hurt. The girl replied and said that there was a piece of wood stuck to her.
The floorboard had split in the middle and got stuck into the girl, from Wisconsin. The girl’s mother, who happened to be the coach of the basketball team, quickly rushed to be by her daughter’s side.
When emergency crews showed up to the scene, everyone inside the gym was asked to leave.
The girl was loaded onto a stretcher and spent the rest of the night in the hospital. The girl did not suffer any major injuries, and none of her internal organs were hit by the splintered piece of wood.
The girl is expected to make a full recovery and be ready to play basketball again in the near future.
