A young boy was killed by a car while in care of babysitter.

Details about the Fatal Child Accident

The Austin-American Statesman is reporting that a young 2-year-old boy was in the care of his babysitter when he was killed by a vehicle.

According to police in the Temple area, the boy was hit and killed by a vehicle near a frontage road for Interstate 35 and was in the care of his baby sitter while his parents were out.

Police officers from Temple say that they were responding to a report of a fatal accident early Sunday when they were told that someone was calling in to report a missing child. A police officer went to the home where the call came from, obtained a photo of the child and sent the photo to officer at the scene of the fatal accident about two blocks away from the home.

Officers confirmed it was the child that was reported missing.

An investigation into the accident remains ongoing at this time.
