A day care in Houston remain closed after a car accident killed a 4-year-old boy.

Details about the Tragic Accident

KTRK News is reporting that a young child was killed in a tragic car accident that happened just outside a Harris County day care just after noon on Tuesday.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Department has indicated that the accident happened at the KD Learning Center in a strip mall on Uvalde and Wallisville.

The Sheriff’s Office further stated that an 81-year-old woman was picking up her grandchild and a family friend’s 4-year-old son from the day care center. The woman put the vehicle in reverse to leave the day care, thinking both of the children were already in the vehicle, but the 4-year-old was still trying to get in. The boy was hit by the open door and then pushed under the vehicle.

The woman got out of the car to try to help the boy, but she failed to put her car in park. The SUV rolled backwards, hit another car, and then slammed into the day care.

The children who were in the day car were in the back area, and no one in the building was injured.

People who saw the accident attempted to perform CPR on the buy and he was flown to the hospital via helicopter, where he died of head trauma.
