Details about the Child Pedestrian Accident

Click 2 Houston News is reporting that a 12-year-old girl was killed by a driver in southeast Houston while she was walking across the street, according to Houston police.

The accident happened on Thursday at around 4:45 p.m. near the intersection of Allen Genoa and Allendale.

Emergency crews who responded to the scene of the accident attempted CPR on the girl who was hit and took her to the hospital via ambulance in critical condition. The girl was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to Lieutenant James Holt from the Pasadena police, the driver of the vehicle that hit the girl was heading north on Allen Genoa and he did have a green light. The driver did not see the girl when she passed and front of him and he hit her. There was also no designated crosswalk at the location in which the girl was hit.

The vehicle was towed away, and the damage to the front end and the windshield was obvious.

No charges are expected to be filed as this appears to just be a tragic accident, however the investigation remains ongoing.
