Details about the Fatal Child Pedestrian Accident

Multiple sources are reporting that police do not believe speed was a factor in an accident in which a 3-year-old boy was killed on Saturday.

Tanner Ault, of Sandy, and his family had just finished attending a baptism at about 7:30 p.m. when they were walking back to their vehicle and the boy ran out into the road and was hit by an SUV on S. 700 West Street.

The boy was transported to the Primary Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead. According to the Draper Police Department, the incident was still being investigated, but it appeared to have been nothing more than a tragic accident.

Witnesses in the area claimed that the vehicle appeared to have been traveling at the speed limit or lower. AS of Monday, no citations had been issued against the 49-year-old driver.
