A young mother was hit and killed by an out of control vehicle after walking her son to bus stop on Tuesday.

Details about the Fatal Pedestrian Accident

ABC 7 News New York is reporting that a young mother was walking her dog when she was hit by and out of control car and killed in East Islip on Tuesday morning.

According to the East Islip Fire Department says that the woman was identified by her brother as 25-year-old Sky Brunetti, who was walking on the sidewalk when the vehicle jumped the curb and hit her and then collided with a utility pole.

Brunetti was walking home after taking her 5-year-old son to the school bus stop. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. According to investigators, she may have had her back to traffic and did not see the vehicle coming. The 50-year-old driver of the vehicle, Barbara Cottone, was taken to the Southside Hospital in serious condition.

An investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
