Bettina A. Ballet

Ms. Bettina A. Ballet received her Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, graduating magna cum laude in the top three percent of her class. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science with a concentration in Jurisprudence and Public Policy from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, where she graduated cum laude, minored in English, and studied abroad in London, England.

At Southern University Law Center, Ms. Ballet served as an Article Editor for the Journal of International Law, Business, and Policy and the Public Defender Journal, and she represented her class as a 3L Representative and Interim Secretary of the Student Bar Association. She earned CALI Awards for the highest grade in both legal writing and legal negotiation, and she published two articles, one on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the legal profession and one on criminal recidivism in the United States. Ms. Ballet also holds certifications in litigation research, basic legal research, and practice readiness.

During law school, Ms. Ballet served as a judicial intern in the Family Court of East Baton Rouge, where she researched issues before the Court, drafted memoranda and judgments, analyzed evidence, and assisted self-represented litigants through the Court’s self-help resource center. She previously worked as a research assistant at Southern University Law Center, conducting legal research and analyzing administrative law decisions on civil procedure questions.

Ms. Ballet came to Thomas J. Henry Law with years of hands-on personal injury and litigation experience earned before she was licensed. As a litigation paralegal in Dallas, she drafted and filed petitions, discovery requests, and pleadings in state and federal court, organized trial exhibits, witness lists, and trial notebooks, monitored statutes of limitations and filing deadlines, and supervised and trained legal interns. Earlier, she managed a high-volume docket of personal injury cases in litigation for a Dallas-area firm, handling service of process, e-filing, and scheduling for depositions, mediations, and hearings. As a senior paralegal, she conducted client intake interviews, requested and organized medical records and bills, prepared demand packages for settlement negotiations, and worked with lien holders to resolve and reduce liens after settlement.

Since joining the firm, Ms. Ballet has focused her practice on the representation of clients injured in car accidents, trucking accidents, premises liability accidents, and workplace accidents. Having worked a personal injury case from intake through litigation before becoming an attorney, she brings a practical command of the process to every client she represents.
