Courtney W. Sampson

Ms. Courtney W. Sampson received her Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California and also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from San Diego State University.

During law school, Ms. Sampson served as a summer law clerk with the California Attorney General’s Business and Tax Unit, where she researched and drafted memoranda, sections of briefs, and responses to amici curiae in ongoing civil litigation, and supported the Franchise Tax Board in complex legal matters. She served as Clerk of her Phi Alpha Delta chapter. Ms. Sampson also volunteered with the San Diego Legal Aid Society’s Unlawful Detainer Clinic, helping tenants facing eviction draft responses and understand their options, work that gave her early experience counseling clients through moments of real financial and personal pressure.

Prior to joining Thomas J. Henry Law, Ms. Sampson spent years on the business and claims side of the law. As a corporate paralegal, she drafted and negotiated more than fifty business contracts, including non-disclosure, licensing, and marketing agreements, maintained the legal department’s contract templates, indices, and renewal calendar, and presented on contract policy to business stakeholders. Earlier, as a claims supervisor for a San Diego law office, she led a team handling property damage claims, audited active files, and resolved escalated matters directly with clients. Before entering law, Ms. Sampson worked as Editor-in-Chief of a San Diego magazine, directing an editorial staff and overseeing content from story development through publication.

Since joining the firm, Ms. Sampson has focused her practice on the representation of clients injured in car accidents, trucking accidents, premises liability accidents, and workplace accidents. Her background in contract negotiation and claims resolution, paired with a journalist’s instinct for asking the right questions, shapes the way she builds a case and keeps clients informed.
