David Irwin

Mr. David Michael Irwin earned his Juris Doctor at The University of Houston Law Center in Houston, Texas. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and management from The University of Houston. He is admitted to practice in all Texas state courts and before the United States District Courts for the Southern, Northern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas.

Mr. Irwin brings nearly three decades of Texas civil litigation and trial experience to his work. He began his career as an assistant district attorney in Matagorda County, where he was solely responsible for the misdemeanor and juvenile dockets from charging decisions through trial, tried cases involving driving while intoxicated, assault, and drug possession, and prepared matters for presentation to the grand jury. He then became a partner in a Richmond, Texas firm, managing a civil and criminal docket that included personal injury, eminent domain, breach of contract, and consumer protection matters. He went on to spend more than a decade in Houston defense litigation, handling claims arising out of tractor-trailer accidents, oilfield accidents, construction site accidents, premises liability, medical malpractice, products liability, and general negligence, along with contractual, employment, and construction disputes and arbitration proceedings. During that period, he also represented injured clients at a Houston plaintiffs’ firm, where he managed a civil litigation docket from the decision to file through venue selection, discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial, and oversaw a high-volume pre-litigation claims docket. He counsels clients on electronic discovery, document retention, post-incident evidence preservation, and spoliation questions, and he has prepared and managed litigation budgets and supervised paralegals and support staff throughout his career.

As an attorney with Thomas J. Henry Law, Mr. Irwin represents clients involved in car accidents, truck accidents, company vehicle accidents, workplace accidents, and premises liability accidents. Having spent much of his career defending these same claims, he understands how insurers and corporate defendants build their cases.
