Jacquelyn Cook Ortiz

Ms. Jacquelyn Cook Ortiz earned her Juris Doctor at Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas, where she was active in the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston, the Hispanic Law Student Association, and the Houston Young Lawyers Association. She also holds a Bachelor of Science from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.

Ms. Ortiz brings a strong foundation in legal writing, research, and complex litigation support to her work. She previously served as a briefing and research attorney with Thomas J. Henry Law, where she drafted motions, discovery requests and responses, and settlement agreements, conducted comprehensive legal research to support case analysis and brief preparation, worked within court procedures and filing deadlines, and communicated directly with clients to explain legal concepts and address their concerns. She has also worked as a document review attorney on complex litigation matters, evaluating large volumes of records for relevance, responsiveness, privilege, and confidentiality, applying privilege redactions, and supporting first-level and second request reviews across construction, arbitration, intellectual property, bankruptcy, and class action matters. Earlier in her career, she served as a grand jury intern with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, assisting prosecutors with trial preparation, gathering out of county judgments needed for indictment, and requesting toxicology and laboratory reports from counties across Texas. As a legal intern at a Houston firm, she prepared motions and interrogatories, conferred with clients to gather case information, and assisted with trial preparation.
