Jared R. Humbles

Mr. Jared R. Humbles earned his Juris Doctor cum laude at Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas, where he served as Associate Editor and Digital Content Editor on the executive board of the Thurgood Marshall Law Review, competed as a mock trial member, and served as a student ambassador. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice, summa cum laude, with a minor in pre-law and paralegal studies from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He has been licensed to practice in Texas since October 2019.

Mr. Humbles brings courtroom and prosecution experience to his work for injured clients. He spent more than three years as an assistant district attorney in Orange County, Texas, where he served as lead prosecutor in County Court at Law No. 2 and secured guilty verdicts as first chair in multiple misdemeanor trials, including justice of the peace trials across four precincts. He drafted and e-filed pre-trial, discovery, and appellate motions, analyzed and drafted plea agreements across hundreds of cases, processed and charged a high volume of misdemeanor, felony, and juvenile intake, and personally conducted witness and victim interviews. He also worked with a regional mental health center to resolve competency matters through jail-based competency restoration. Before his prosecution career, he supported a probate attorney’s full caseload, drafting motions, injunctions, guardianships, affidavits of heirship, and estate plans, preparing hearing binders and evidence, and corresponding with clients, opposing counsel, medical officials, and insurance providers. During law school, he assisted court-appointed attorneys in Harris County misdemeanor and felony courts through the Criminal Law Clinic, sat second chair on a jury trial, and argued for dismissals and favorable plea agreements. Through the Earl Carl Institute’s Innocence Clinic, he researched actual innocence, Brady violations, and ineffective assistance of counsel claims, drafted writ and appellate argument binders, and interviewed clients inside Texas prisons. As a legal intern with a Houston firm, he drafted pleadings, motions, and discovery in family, criminal, personal injury, and bankruptcy matters.

As an attorney with Thomas J. Henry Law, Mr. Humbles represents clients involved in car accidents, truck accidents, company vehicle accidents, workplace accidents, and premises liability accidents. Years spent trying cases and handling high-volume dockets on the government side give him a practical sense of how evidence, witnesses, and negotiations shape an outcome. Outside the office, he enjoys media, meditation, and food.
