Tamela T. Knight

Ms. Tamela T. Knight earned her Juris Doctor at the University of Illinois College of Law in Champaign, Illinois. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Rosemont College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, where she graduated with honors and was recognized with the Dean of Students Leadership Award. During law school she served as a mentor with the Public Interest Law Foundation and the Black Student Law Society, and her scholarship on climate change and violent conflict was published in Peace Review.

Ms. Knight has spent her legal career representing individuals and families in high-stakes disputes. As a staff attorney at a Texas family law center, she counseled clients through custody, enforcement, modification, adoption, and divorce matters, guiding them from initial pleadings through discovery disputes and trial preparation. Earlier, as a law clerk at plaintiff-side firms in Pennsylvania and Illinois, she drafted court motions and pleadings in wrongful death actions, prepared interrogatories for opposing counsel, and assisted trial counsel in preparing for depositions. Her clerkship work also included a judicial externship in an Illinois circuit court, where she drafted a summary judgment decision and bench memoranda on bankruptcy, probate, and guardianship, and legal aid placements where she conducted client intake and researched housing, healthcare coverage, and veterans benefits issues. Before entering law, she spent five years as a staff accountant preparing financial statements, forecasts, and reconciliations for a national marketing firm.

As an attorney with Thomas J. Henry Law, Ms. Knight represents clients involved in car accidents, truck accidents, workplace accidents, and premises liability accidents, and she handles wrongful death claims. Her background in pleadings drafting, discovery, and direct client counseling shapes how she builds a case and keeps clients informed at every stage, and her accounting experience gives her a practical command of the financial records that drive damages.
