Ms. Tanisha Gates earned her Juris Doctor at Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Tougaloo College in Tougaloo, Mississippi, and she completed a study abroad program in political science at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She later earned a certificate in intellectual property law from the University of Pennsylvania. She has been licensed to practice law in Mississippi since 2006.
Ms. Gates brings more than eighteen years of combined law practice and law office management experience to her work. She spent nearly a decade as an attorney and partner with a Mississippi firm, where she represented clients in personal injury and auto accident matters, medical malpractice claims, civil litigation, real estate transactions, domestic relations, and disability claims. In that role, she conducted extensive legal research to support case strategy, drafted and reviewed pleadings, motions, briefs, and contracts, negotiated settlements with opposing parties to resolve disputed claims without prolonged litigation, and managed all aspects of trial preparation, including witness coordination, subpoenas, and exhibit and document organization. She also supervised legal staff and monitored progress across multiple active caseloads to keep deadlines and case management procedures on track.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Gates owned and operated her own Mississippi practice, handling personal injury and auto accident matters, medical malpractice claims, civil litigation, and contract disputes, and appearing in mediations and arbitrations as an alternative to trial. She served concurrently as an assistant public defender in a Mississippi circuit court, where she represented indigent clients charged with felony and misdemeanor offenses, interviewed clients, analyzed police reports and witness statements to identify key facts and defense strategies, negotiated resolutions with prosecutors, and presented oral arguments in court hearings while managing a high-volume docket.
As an attorney with Thomas J. Henry Law, Ms. Gates represents clients involved in car accidents, truck accidents, company vehicle accidents, workplace accidents, and premises liability accidents. Her years of courtroom advocacy, settlement negotiation, and direct client counseling inform how she builds a case and keeps clients informed through every phase of it.

I had a great experience! Me and my daughter got in a car accident 2023 and they were able to reach a settlement for us. My favorite aspect was the communication and how much they care. Highly recommend!
