Woian Phipps earned a Juris Doctor from Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University in Houston. Before law school, Phipps completed a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting at Texas Southern University. During law school, Phipps got early experience with personal injury work through internships, drafting demand letters and settlement demands, preparing medical treatment timelines, and requesting medical records for injured clients. Phipps also interned with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, drafting disclosure motions, researching criminal cases, and screening cases for Assistant District Attorneys.
After law school, Phipps built a litigation practice focused on personal injury. As an associate attorney at a Houston-area firm, Phipps managed a docket of more than 100 personal injury cases from investigation through resolution. That work included investigating liability, identifying responsible parties, deposing clients, defendants, and expert witnesses, and drafting complaints, motions, and discovery requests. Phipps worked with medical professionals, process servers, and accident reconstruction experts to build cases, and negotiated directly with insurance adjusters and opposing counsel. In earlier roles, Phipps handled personal injury cases at every stage of litigation, prepared demand packages, got clients ready for depositions and mediations, and conducted prove-up hearings. Phipps also drafted pleadings in civil contract and bankruptcy matters. As an appearance attorney, Phipps has argued motions and attended status hearings in county courts.
