Bryan Traffic Accident Claims Life of Texas A&M Student


A student of Texas A&M was fatally injured Wednesday morning when he was involved in a traffic collision in Bryan, Texas.
Details of the Fatal Bryan Collision
According to KBTX, the fatal crash occurred in the 200 block of West Villa Maria Road when a pickup driver by 23-year-old Ross Travis Lightfoot crossed over the center line and into oncoming traffic. Lightfoot’s pickup collided head on with another vehicle.
The driver of the second vehicle was not seriously injured.
Bryan police believe speeding is a contributing factor in the crash. Lightfoot was attending Texas A&M in College Station where he was set to graduate with a computer engineering degree in May.

The following information was provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT):
- 3,531 people were killed in auto accidents in Texas in 2015, marking little change from the 3,536 deaths reported in 2014.
- Head-on collisions accounted for 581 deaths in 2015.
- An additional 246,335 people were injured in auto accidents in Texas in 2015 with 17,011 people suffering serious injuries.
- It is estimated that a reportable crash occurred every 61 seconds in 2015.
