Ford Issues Second Recall for Bronco and Maverick SUVs Due to Stalling Risk

Ford is recalling approximately 272,817 SUVs that may lose power while driving.

Ford had previously recalled these SUVs in April 2024 to address the stalling issue where they updated the vehicle’s software to monitor the battery charge level. The present recall is a direct result of the ongoing investigation.

What is being recalled?

The following modes are being recalled:

• 2021 – 2023 Ford Bronco Sport
• 2022 – 2023 Ford Maverick

Why is it being recalled?

The 12-volt battery in the affected products may crack or lose charge due to a manufacturing error. This causes the vehicle to stall and prevents it from being restarted. 

What should you do?

If you have an affected product, visit your dealership. Dealers will be able to replace the battery free of charge.

Additional Information

Owners of the affected vehicles should receive a letter with more information between February 3, 2025 and February 7, 2025.
