Thomas J Henry Family Pledges $50,000 to Elf Louise

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Dec. 4, 2014) — Shortly after giving away Thanksgiving turkeys to nearly 8,000 families in South Texas just two weeks ago, San Antonio attorney Thomas J Henry has broken out of his annual turkey trot and hopped on his Christmas sleigh to make one more very important delivery.

To San Antonio’s very own Elf Louise Christmas Project, Mr Henry and his family are pledging $50,000 to the Elf Louise Radio-thon this weekend in the hope that others will give too!  In a generous effort to help Elf Louise raise $200,000 this weekend, Henry will provide a 25% match to every donation made to Elf Louise. The two day radio-thon will air on News  Radio 1200 WOAI starting this Friday at North Star Mall.  Mr Henry will personally participate on the radio-thon this Saturday.

“I don’t know of a better way to help 19,000 families in the San Antonio area than through the Elf Louise Christmas Project. They are an extraordinary, all-volunteer organization committed to delivering Christmas joy to those less fortunate,” said Henry.  “We can all make the holidays brighter for everyone, hopefully my support will encourage others to donate as well.”

Henry’s pledge couldn’t come at a better time according to Elf Louise founder, Louise Locker.

“We lost several significant donors from last year and I was terrified that we wouldn’t be able to take care of all the families that need our help. I reached out to a friend whom approached Thomas J Henry on our behalf“, stated Locker. “When I got the call from Thomas himself, our prayers were answered,” she added.

Donations can be made through the News Radio 1200 WOAI radio-thon or online at www.ElfLouise.org

ABOUT ELF LOUISE

The project began in 1969 when our founder, Louise Locker, was a student at Trinity University in San Antonio. She found that for many San Antonio families, Christmas just did not exist. Louise began to look for a way to provide a few Christmas presents to some of these children. That first year, with the help of a friend, she collected gifts for children in 13 families. From that Christmas forward, the organization has been nothing short of a holiday miracle for the San Antonio area!

The Elf Louise Christmas Project is a 501 (C) (3) Non-profit organization staffed by all volunteers and funded by donations only. 98 cents of each dollar donated goes directly to the purchase and delivery of the toys.

The Elf Louise Christmas Project relies solely on the help of donations from grass roots San Antonio and from businesses that want to share their blessings at Christmas. People can also donate toys, but since Elf Louise needs over 60,000 gifts annually, we have to purchase many of them to meet the need of over 19,000 families. Their current budget is over $316,000. Those donations ARE 100% deductible.
