University of Maine Student Savannah Haines Awarded Thomas J. Henry Leadership Scholarship
Thomas J. Henry would like to congratulate Ms. Savannah Haines, our Spring 2018 recipient of the Thomas J. Henry Leadership Scholarship.
Ms. Haines is currently a senior at the University of Maine and is pursuing a degree in forestry with a minor in environmental horticulture. One of only three girls in her grade majoring in forestry, Ms. Haines plans to secure a job as a Forest Pathologist after graduation.
In seeking the Thomas J. Henry Leadership Scholarship, Ms. Haines was asked to submit an essay explaining the importance of leadership while also sharing her own leadership role experience. In her essay, Ms. Haines detailed her exceptional academic history, her work in arboriculture (a male dominated industry), and her accomplishments as president of the University of Maine’s Student Chapter of the Society of American Foresters.
Ms. Haines’s passion for her chosen field of study as well as her desire to pave the way for future generations of blue collar women truly set her apart. We are confident that Ms. Haines will continue to find success in all of her endeavors and look forward to hearing about her future accomplishments.
