Kia Recalls 342,000 Vehicles for Steering Defect
Kia Motors has recalled 342,381 vehicles in the United States for a steering defect that can result in loss of steering.
About the Kia Steering Defect Recall
According to reports, the issue is caused by a pinion plug which may not be properly secured. This could result in the pinion gear separating from the steering assembly, resulting in a complete loss of steering and an increased risk of crash.
The recall affects Soul and Soul EV vehicles from the 2014-2016 model years. The vehicles were subject to a previous recall for the same issue, but the first repair may not have corrected the defect.
Kia plans to notify affected owners beginning next month.
