A construction worker in Seattle, Washington died Monday morning after falling 50 feet at a construction site in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood.

About the Seattle Construction Accident

• According to KIRO, the 31-year-old man, whose identity has yet to be released, was employed as a welder with North Coast Iron Corp. of Anacortes, Washington.
• Witnesses stated that he had unclipped his safety harness as he attempted to move from one part of the scaffolding to another when he tripped and fell.
• The man fell approximately 50 feet from the scaffolding to the sidewalk below – it was the man’s first day at the job site.
• The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries is investigating the site.

• Fatal injuries involving construction workers accounted for roughly 17 percent of all workplace injuries recorded in private injuries.
