1 Dead, 1 Injured in El Paso Accident
One woman is dead and another sustained serious injuries following a car crash if Far East El Paso, Texas.
Details of the El Paso Accident
According to KFOX-TV, the car accident occurred on Loop 375 near Joe Battle Boulevard and Montana Avenue just after 3 a.m. Wednesday
Preliminary reports indicate a 2014 Jeep Patriot was driven northbound in the wrong direction on Loop 375 when the driver lost control, entered the median, and the SUV rolled over. The driver and her passenger were ejected in the crash – neither woman was wearing a seat belt.
One of the women passed away at the scene, and the other was transported to Del Sol Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Both women’s identities remain unknown. An investigation revealed that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The following information was provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT):
- 3,377 people were killed in motor vehicle accidents in Texas in 2013.
- 1,089 people were killed traffic accidents involving a driver that was under the influence of alcohol. This is 32.2% of the total number of traffic fatalities recorded in 2013.
- During 2013, more DUI – Alcohol crashes were reported in the hour between 2:00 am and 2:59 am than any other hour of the day. Also, more of these crashes occurred on Saturday than any other day of the week.
- In 2013, there were 460 people killed in crashes involving distracted driving. This is a 2.34% decrease from 2012.
