24-Year-Old Dies in Texas Car Crash

An Elkhart woman was pronounced dead Saturday after a two-vehicle accident near Center, Texas.

About the Fatal Car Accident

KTRE states that on Saturday, at 2:25 p.m. 24-year-old Heather Elaine Green died in a car accident on State Highway 87. Green was in the passenger seat of a 2009 Dodge Durango driven by Christopher Bryan Green, 28.

According to the preliminary investigation, the Dodge Durango was heading northbound on SH 87 when it was struck by a 2007 Ford Taurus that had veered into oncoming traffic from the southbound lane. The Ford Taurus was driven by a 16-year-old boy from Shelbyville who was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview in serious condition.

Christopher Green was transported to LSU Hospital on Shreveport, Louisiana also in serious condition. Heather Green, however, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Justice of the Peace, Jim Powers.

Heather Green and the 16-year-old were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident, Christopher Green was.

The crash is still under investigation and the identity of the 16-year-old is not being released due to possible charges pending the outcome of the investigation.
