Three children fell from a Ferris wheel on Monday when a Ferris wheel basket overturned at the 67th Greene County Fair in Tennessee.
According to NBC News, 911 began receiving calls around 6 pm that at least three children had fallen from an overturned Ferris wheel basket to the ground below. The children fell an estimated 40 feet from the ride, more than three stories.
Greeneville Police Captain Tim Davis told reporters that two of the children were air lifted to a local trauma center. An ambulance transported the third child to the same facility. According to WBIR, one of the children is in intensive care.
An investigation of the Ferris wheel accident is underway, and all of the rides at the fair have been shut down pending independent inspection. Officials have not released the identities of the chidlren involved.
