According to The Lincoln County News, a 79-year-old man died after colliding with a semi-truck on Route 1 in Waldoboro, Maine, on Wednesday morning.
Police say Andrew Pierce drove a Lyle Pierce Inc. milk tractor-trailer north on Route 1 at approximately 9:34 a.m. local time when the accident occurred. The victim, 79-year-old Rody Conway, attempted to pull onto Route 1 when the semi collided with his pickup truck.
The Lincoln County News reports that Conway died in the collision. The driver of the tractor-trailer did not sustain any injuries. The cleanup and investigation closed all but one late on Route 1.
The crash pushed the vehicles around 100 feet down the southbound lane of Route 1, according to The Lincoln County News. The semi-truck rolled over onto its side in the center median.
Investigators say Pierce attempted to maneuver around the pickup and avoid the collision. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and a crash reconstruction unit is conducting an investigation as well.
