At Least One Injured in Long Island Expressway Accident

A portion of the Long Island Expressway was shut down for a period of time after a serious accident.

Details about the Serious Accident

NBC New York is reporting that a portion of the Long Island Expressway has finally reopened in both directions on Tuesday morning after it was shut down after a serious car accident injured at least one person.

Although an investigation into the accident remains ongoing at this time, it does appear that someone on the roadway was hit after he or she got out of their vehicle. Initial reports indicated that one person was killed after being thrown into the air and landing on the pavement.

Police from Nassau County have indicated that two vehicles collided on the Expressway at about 11 p.m. on Monday evening. The number of people who were hurt, or the extent of their injuries was not immediately disclosed.
